Rose Show
FPRS Rose Shows
Every June, the Fraser Pacific Rose Society holds a Rose Show which is free for all to attend. The Show is held over two days in the Dogwood Pavilion next to the Centennial Rose Garden in Coquitlam. Members of the Rose Society, as well as members from other rose societies and the public, are able to exhibit their beautiful roses.
The Rose Show easily has a couple of hundred entries in a variety of categories or classes. Roses are paced in classes depending on the type of rose, eg. hybrid-tea, floribunda, miniature, Canadian etc. and by colour - reds, yellows, pinks etc. Along with displays of single roses and sprays, roses are shown in bowls, baskets, frames, tea cups and even photographs. Floral Art, showcasing beautiful themed displays of roses and other flowers, is often the highlight of any rose show.
The roses are judged by qualified judges before the show opens to the public. Firsts, seconds and thirds are usually awarded in each class and the public can see the winning entries while they peruse the show. There is also an award for the Best in Class and the most impressive rose from the Best in Class wins BEST in SHOW.
